Abstract

Value chain promotion (VC) promotes economic development, provides essential knowledge on ways to improve employment and income of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises and farmers (GIZ. Springer-Heinze, 2018), contributes to integrating to the links to efficient and fair markets and integrates a gender perspective, generational survey, interculturality and climate risk in the areas of intervention.

This document arises from the analysis of various interventions carried out during the years 2019 to 2022 in the MAATE-GIZ Programs in VC executed throughout the country and it analyzes with emphasis the results obtained after the Covid-19 pandemic.

The document is structured as follows: Section 1 presents a conceptual synthesis that includes a review of the literature and the research methodology used. Section 2 describes the application of development promotion strategies in the VC, analyzes the promotion strategies of the VC, from the signing of the agreement, respective formalization to start the interventions, the technical execution and the work carried out, the products obtained, the financial execution, the acquisitions made and the main achievements of each intervention, as well as the social and environmental results. Section 3 refers to the prospects for the application of strategies to promote development in value chains, to the potential replication of the concept of improving the conditions for conservation, for the sustainable use of biodiversity and for natural heritage, and to the way to contribute to the implementation of the National Bioeconomy Policy within the framework of the National Biodiversity Strategy in Ecuador.
